Environment Management Group

The Environment Management Group (EMG) is a UN system-wide coordination body. Its role is to enhance inter-agency cooperation on environmental issues.

The EMG membership consists of the specialized agencies, programmes and organs of the UN, including the secretariats of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements, plus the Bretton Woods Institutions and the World Trade Organization.

UNEP hosts the EMG Secretariat in Geneva. The UNEP Executive Director is Chair of the Group. EMG reports on its cooperation and achievements to the Governing Council of UNEP and other intergovernmental bodies. It also interacts with other inter-agency bodies, in particular the Chief Executives Board of Coordination and its subsidiary bodies.
