Continental Seminar on Sport and Environment

Representative from 46 National Olympic Committees from Africa meet in Nairobi to discuss how they can promote environment and sustainable development in their countries.

The Continental Seminar on Sport and Environment, is being organized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), in Nairobi, Kenya on 6 - 7 November 2010 will bring together 90 representatives from 48 Nation Olympic Committees.

The Seminar will review the role of sport as a vehicle for sustainable development in Africa and how sport events and activities could be used to promote solutions to environmental, economic and social problems in Africa.

It will provide opportunities several National Olympic Committees to discuss their sustainable development activities. The Seminar is being hosted at the UN Headquarters for Africa will culminate in a declaration on how sport can be used to promote environmental awareness and sustainable development in Africa.
