Global action on mercury needs to be strengthened. UNEP has convened two meetings of an ad hoc open
ended working group on mercury, and has developed a
policy framework for mercury. This framework, and options for implementation of the policy framework, will be presented for consideration at the 25
th Governing Council.
Work to strengthen the
UNEP Global Mercury Partnership by developing an
overarching framework, identifying partnership goals and developing operational guidelines was undertaken during 2008.
