This seminar sought to discuss issues related to implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, taking into account ongoing legal processes and reforms in most countries of the region. The seminar was the venue for:-

• Revisiting law development and implementation issues as they pertain to Francophone Africa, with a view to assessing legal and institutional frameworks for guaranteeing sustainable development;
• Emphasizing existing challenges to legal approaches to solving environmental problems; and
• Proposing strategies for the harmonization of environmental laws and diffusion of good practices in environmental law reforms and related implementation.
