For many of Article 5 countries, HCFC is most widely used in the air-conditioner sector. For the manufacturing sector, some challenges remain in terms of technology choices, specifically finding long-term, sustainable solutions. There is also a need for servicing sector to prepare for HCFC phase-out, including the handling of flammable alternatives to HCFCs.

Timor-Leste Passes Law on Ozone-Depleting Substances

Dili, 14 August 2012 – The Government of Timor-Leste, through its Council of Ministers, has approved the Decree Law on the Control of Export, Import and Use of Ozone Depleting Substances (Decree Law No. 36/2012). The Decree Law will allow Timor-Leste to control the importation of ozone-depleting substances or ODS and includes phasing out the importation, exportation and use of HCFCs through an import quota and licensing scheme.  Read more
