MY 2015 WED Creating awareness is always top of my agenda when it comes to the environment as Nigerians still need more information on that.So I requested for an interview with my university radio station,UNIZIK 94.1 FM Awka, where I also volunteer as a Radio Host and the Station manager happily granted my request. I was interviewed on the World Environment Day for 45 minutes live on radio on the 5th of June, 2015 and that interview I gave created the much needed awareness on the day as most of the media houses in my region just didn't do anything or do much to mark the day. Please, listen or download the interview here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4UauN-C5hTlMDE2UUtwOHZndUk/edit?usp=drive_web Again, I wrote what some described as a very motivating news commentary on the WED to be read on 5th June 2015 on my university Radio station,UNIZIK 94.1 FM Awka. So, my commentary, which centered around the theme of the 2015 WED(SEVEN BILLION DREAMS. ONE PLANET. CONSUME WITH CARE) was aired three times-at 6am,3pm and 6pm major news of the station- the next day,6th June, 2015,and it was great. It helped prolong the publicity and kept the topic fresh in the mind of people. Please, listen or download it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4UauN-C5hTlZ1p3Um0tRllWN0U/edit?usp=drive_web Still not satisfied with my actions, I furthered my plans to get the approval of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University High School Principal to speak to the students of her school on the 2015 WED theme. I had earlier communicated the principal on my intention of speaking to her students but she told me the school will be on mid-term break by the week of 5th June, 2015 so I had to seek for another date. It was morning on June 19 and I was putting finishing touches to the slideshow I've already prepared with a rich content of TUNZA Eco-Generation Living Green kits. I spoke to the students for about one hour on the theme of the 2015 World Environment Day-Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care- and ended by given Eco-Generation branded handbooks and rulers to some students who impressed in my question and answer segment which I used to round off my speech. I was full of thanks for the school and her students. Please, watch or download it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4UauN-C5hTlVmUxWmlrTFBxT1U/edit?usp=drive_web A comprehensive news of the event was reported on my university Radio station and was read for two days. Please, listen or download it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4UauN-C5hTlQUJaRmR4dVY3ckk/edit?usp=drive_web I was so happy with my actions for the 2015 WED especially given the financial difficulties I faced and also given the fact that I was on Industrial Training and just returned from a climate change summit in Germany few days to the WED.

‘PARINATI’ (means change) is a one-day environmental campaign, to be organized in conjunction with WED 2015, accentuating the theme of WED 2015, to provide awareness on the significance of carefully consuming the mother Earth for all our dreams as well as the future generations. In association with this, we would be conducting an inter school exhibition competition which is aimed at developing the scientific instincts among children and making them realize the interdependence of Science, Technology, Society and Environment. Theme for the Day: Go Green The volunteers, School campus including exhibition venues and stalls would be conveying the "GO GREEN” message to the students, participants and others. Events of the Day: 1.  Inter-school Exhibition competition 2.  Exhibition stalls for handicrafts with natural products in Kerala 3.  Tree for free: Gift a Sapling 4.  Closing Ceremony & Award Distribution I. Inter- school Exhibition Competition: All children are naturally motivated to learn and are capable of learning. The knowledge acquired by them is the outcome of their own activity. Children learn through interaction with nature, people and environment around. They construct knowledge by connecting new ideas to their existing ideas. Children must be aware about how human society's unsustainable use of natural resources affects the quality of life and environment. Children and teachers should identify where and how new researches and developments in science, mathematics and technology can bring sustainable development of society. THEME: "Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care." The slogan for WED 2015 emphasizes the need for ‘Sustainable Consumption and Production of our resources’. therefore, we have suggested the participants to cover the following sub themes: 1. Energy conservation 2. Soil conservation 3.  Food security 4.  Water conservation II. Exhibition stalls for handicrafts with natural products in Kerala With the exhibition stalls we aim to highlight the strong bond of mankind and nature and make people aware of the depth of nature's gifts. III. Tree for Free We would be gifting a tree sapling to all the participants, judges, guests and all the other visitors. IV. Closing Ceremony The top three exhibits would be endowed with cash awards of Rs.10000, Rs.5000 and Rs.3000 respectively. Also all the participants would be awarded participation certificates. On the occasion of closing ceremony, Earth Anthem would be sung to honour the Mother Earth. As our event name 'PARINATI' signifies, we aim to start building a CHANGE in ourselves  towards the way we manage our natural resources and thereby providing an awareness on the significance of sustainable production and consumption of natural resources for the future generations through the children.

"There is no good in a nation who does not eat what they have grown nor wear what they have made themselves" We wait to export our needs through oceans leaving behind our ability to produce, consuming all the efforts and resources in exporting, we have got used through passed ages to be consumers which stopped us from being creative and productive Our minds were shaked and have released a very shocking creativity. Shada Suites who promotes the Southern Culture of Saudi Arabia has collaborated with Kees Chic who has built a mural made out of 2000 plastic bags that were crocheted by 15 local artisans following the southern Asiri Qatt pattern, aiming to spread the collaborative work and creative productivity model Kees Chic aims to 1.reduce wastes of plastic bags, 2.reduce women unemployment rates, & 3.improve local handmade production, through professional team to improve the economy and develop the MENA region. Installing the mural was also part of the World Environmental Day 2015 particpation with UNEP. Mona Badrais, one of the artisans has said: it was a new idea, exciting and unique that we could produce creativity out of simplicity! "The project is very nice and supports the concept of the collaborative work to produce nice ART along with the benefit of hiring underprivileged women. Although the handmade concept is not appreciated in our societies as the past when it was an honor for those women who has skill to show off with it around with high quality, the new generation has forgotten these handmade skills and un appreciated its value beside replacing it with machines to the extent we started forgotten about it. So I hope Kees Chic will re invent the value of it." said the crochet trainer Lina Aktaa. The Qatt southern mural is a start of a series of projects that Kees Chic is planning to do that opens the door for all companies to participate and being a part of having a valuable footprint not only socially but also economically. "Its the time to face to consumer monster that we are afraid of and kept us in the consumerism life for ages, doing by action even with small ones will have a strong impact and lead toward improvement of our countries to resign as they used to be before and thats only by unleashing creativity and innovation from the theoretical mind into the practical hands", said the founder of Kees Chic, Diana Rayyan.

Held a competition to encourage staff to provide examples of environmental initiatives they are undertaking on client sites or to suggest ways that we could make an impact on our consumption. Winning entry was the use of peppermint oil to keep away spiders rather than harmful chemicals. Our field and office based staff were also encouraged to work from home where possible and if they had to travel they were to car share, travel without a car or try to work in locations that did not require driving great distances. Our offices turned off lights that were often on but are unnecessary and completed a task to reduce the number of heaters/fans/printers left on regularly. in addition to reducting our consumptioin on the day this has resulted in an increased awareness that we do not have to use all appliances and lights all the time and a reduced level of consumption should be maintained in future.

Background Just two days before the Environment Day I went to my village. I hadn?t planned anything but had a thought in mind that I shall do something this time. So first thing I thought of was plantation engaging primary school students but this couldn?t be successful due to the continuous dry period there. Talking about the school, there is a primary level school named Shree Bidhya Jyoti School in my village. And as most of the people send their children's to private school there are minimum number of student in this school which is below the requirement of Ministry of Education. The saddest thing is that, this school shall no more remain next year. As my first plan failed I thought of a small interaction program on importance of environment with the students there. So I asked the Principal Sir for his permission and he happily allowed me. Activity So on 5th June 2015, 12:00 P.M. NST I went to the school. The number of students is very low they were all gathered together. As I was unable to prepare any materials I took the help of Eco-generation school kit. At first I introduced them about Tunza Eco-generation and explained them about air, water, land and lastly about Living Green. In between I asked them if they have understood or not. And I tried my best to explain them in the simplest language as all of them were below 10 years old. After that I handed them paper and asked them to draw the environment they want to live in. After they finished the drawing I asked them to explain about the drawing and there was a girl who had made two holes dug near the house she drew and told that one is for degradable waste and other for non-degradable waste which was a reasonable reason to make me happy. Those drawings will be evaluated by the teachers there and they shall be awarded on their annual day. Conclusion I was able to do little from my side to celebrate the environment we have and the one we shall maintain. I hope that those little ones learned something from me and it'll have some impacts on their life which shall be reflected on their environment and shall lead to building of a beautiful world.
