Iraq Lead Phase-Out Follow-Up Workshop, 4-6 December, 2012 Amman, Jordan

In a continued bid to reconstruct their country, Iraq made a decision in April 2012 to phase out leaded gasoline by 2015 to improve urban air quality. The decision by the Ministry of Oil followed a task force set up after a successful Iraq lead phase-out workshop facilitated by the UNEP based Partnership for Clean Fuels and Vehicles (PCFV) in April 2011 in Cairo, Egypt.

A second national workshop was held on 4-5 December 2012 in Amman, Jordan organized in conjunction with the Iraq Ministry of Environment and facilitated by the Regional Center for Environmental Health Activities (CEHA).The meeting was organized to support the elimination of leaded gasoline as a means to improving urban air quality in Iraq.
