The 2nd Chinese Children's Painting Competition

The Luo Hong Foundation in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme has launched the 2nd Chinese Children’s Painting Competition. This competition is aligned to the UNEP International Children’s Painting Competition held annually since 1990.

The theme of this year’s Chinese Children’s Painting Competition is Climate Change: Our Challenge. The competition will run from 12 November 2008 to 20 February 2009. The initial selection of the paintings will be completed at the school level and shortlisted paintings will be presented for national selection, which will be made by a team of judges. The panel of judges will be composed of renowned Chinese artists, UNEP officials and the Chinese Children’s Painting Competition Chair, Ms. Liz Rihoy.

The first prize paintings from the national selection will be submitted to the global selection of the UNEP 18th International Children’s Painting Competition.
Like in previous competitions, the first prize winners of the 2nd Chinese Children’s Painting Competition will be invited by the sponsor, Mr. Luo Hong, to attend an award ceremony at UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi. The ceremony will be hosted by UNEP Executive Director, Mr. Achim Steiner.

The 1st Chinese Children’s Painting Competition attracted an unprecedented 1.5 million entries from all over China. It is hoped that the 2nd Chinese Children’s Painting Competition will attract an even higher number of entries. The organizers invite children from all parts of China to participate in this important environmental competition.
