To mark World Environment Day 2006, the Cameroon Association of School Administrators (CASA) has been working with the Nature Club of College D'Excellence through a project titled "Trees for Life: Grow a Tree". The project is to provide to school children information and the resources for planting trees and for understanding the importance of trees in the survival of life on this planet. This project includes a hands-on Tree Planting and Awareness Kit that allows children to germinate and plant a tree from seed and to care for it. On 6 June, a conference will be organised in the school campus thus giveing the students an opportunity to share their thoughts and tree-growing experiences with other children, teachers CASA members and parents. The trees will be planted in the school. By focusing on children, it hoped that the Trees for Life project can educate a new "green generation" which will be well-prepared for the task of protecting Cameroon's environment in the 21st century - thus protecting dry lands, and becoming aware of the advancement of Deserts and Desertification.
