Sustainability and Health on the Menu at PUMA
The canteen at PUMA’s offices in Germany, supported by catering company BIG, continues its efforts to provide organic and/or fair trade food options to its employees, encouraging healthy and sustainable eating. Its efforts were highlighted last WED 2013 at the PUMA Headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. On that day, employees had the choice between at least two 100% organic dishes in the canteens in PUMA's two office buildings in the city

On World Food Day: Tesco Provides Meals to Millions in Need Through FareShare Partnership
Tesco has announced on World Food Day, 16 October 2013 that it will provide the equivalent of seven million meals a year to more than 1,000 charities across the UK by strengthening its partnership with food redistribution charity FareShare.  The initiative supports the UNEP- FAO global campaign Think Eat Save--Reduce Your Foodprint.

Tesco Poland Launches Competition to Help Schools Think.Eat.Save!
This month Tesco has launched a national Tesco for Schools 2013 competition in Poland.This year the competition - which runs over six months – aims to help educate schoolchildren on the causes of food waste and look for innovative ways to reduce it. Tesco for Schools 2013 supports the UNEP- FAO global campaign dubbed Think Eat Save-- Reduce Your Foodprint, which was also the theme of this year’s World Environment Day.

SYNERGY Youth Group Finds Creative Ways to Fight Food Waste and Loss
The Synergy youth group in the UAE mobilized on World Environment Day 2013 by creating information material on this year’s theme, including posters on “10 Ways of Reducing Food Waste”. The group presented them to other members and government officials in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Also on WED, the group’s founder, Simran Vedvyas was awarded the Tetra Pak collection drive award for 2012-2013 at the Emirates Environmental Group ceremony.

FIM Keeps it Shiny and Sustainable on WED
New FIM Environmental Ambassador on board!

On World Environment Day, 5 June 2013, the International Federation of Motorcyclism (FIM) launched “KiSS Mugello (Keep it Shiny and Sustainable)”, for which all sectors of motorcycling have pooled their efforts: the Mugello Circuit as organiser, Yamaha as representative of the industry, the FIM with its Ride Green sustainability programme, Dorna as an unwavering ally and promoter of the sport, riders with prestigious reputations, among them the FIM Environmental Ambassadors, as well as the spectators, the press and others.

CinemAmbiente Celebrates WED! Food Rescue and Dialogue to be Held in City of Turin
The City of Turin, together with CinemAmbiente, Last Minute Market , Consorzio Risteco  are celebrating World Environment Day with a series of events focusing on food loss and food waste on 2 June 2013.  The main event, “Primo non sprecare” will provide free meals to 4,000 people. The meal’s ingredients, donated directly by farmers, will be fresh surplus produce that would be otherwise  discarded.

Scream for the Environment
The “Scream from Nature” art project, led by Norwegian artist Lisse Wulff, is an example of how people take action to increase awareness of environmental issues. On the occasion of artist Edward Munch’s 150th birthday, the project celebrates his iconic painting and has sparked interest among groups worldwide who have recreated and photographed the image, representing an outcry for united action against the unsustainable use of natural resources.
