WED Conference on Environment and Sustainability to be Held at Tongji University

With the over-arching theme of “Eco-civilization and Green Development”, the International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES 2014) will be held from 5 to 10 June at Tongji University in Shanghai, China. Every year, for the past three years, ISCES has brought together almost 400 students from over 40 countries across the globe. ISCES aims to contribute to the dissemination of good practices and ideas on sustainability amongst student communities.

ISCES 2014 aims to provide an optimal platform for international students to exchange ideas and understanding on critical environmental issues, create a dialogue between youth and experts, discuss challenges, opportunities and solutions in the transition towards eco-civilization and a green economy. ISCES is supported by UNEP and Tongji University and funded by the Beijing Green Future Environmental Foundation. This year, ISCES will also be supported by Xinhua News Agency.

Symposium on Energy Transition and Climate Change
As part of the International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES 2014), a symposium focusing on energy transition and climate change, which is this year’s theme for World Environment Day, will be held on 6 June at Tongji University. The symposium, co-hosted by Tongji University, the German Consulate-General and the German Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation (FES), aims to   connect experts and create a policy-research-industry dialogue on transitioning towards more sustainable energy solutions in response to climate change.

The symposium also aims to connect developing and developed countries on the theme.
