Through the generous support of the Nippon Foundation, the World Maritime University WMU-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute is implementing, the "Closing the Circle" Programme: Exploring challenges and advancing potential solutions to marine debris, sargassum threats and marine spatial planning (MSP) in Small Island Developing States with a particular focus on the Eastern Caribbean region.
During 2021 the World Maritime University WMU-Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute will be hosting a webinar each month to engage with experts and stakeholders in the realm of marine debris, sargassum and marine spatial planning, to establish an interactive learning and knowledge sharing platform. The webinar will be hosted through Zoom with a speaker presentation followed by interactive Q&A and discussion with the audience.
In this fourth webinar session, Mr. Christopher Corbin and Ms. Ileana Lopez, Programme Officers at the Secretariat, will present and discuss the "Integrated approaches to management of marine litter and the sargassum influx in the Wider Caribbean Region" and programme efforts being implemented at the UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat.
The webinar will be held on 17th November 2021 at 15:00 CET./ 9:00 a.m. GMT-5/10:00a.m. Eastern Caribbean
