From 24th – 28th August 2020, the German development cooperation agency, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) will host a 5-day virtual conference titled Week on Water for Development (WW4D). The event offers a platform for thematic exchange on water-related topics with more than 25 diverse sessions of multi-faceted stakeholders in international cooperation.
The conference is divided into five thematic days: water and climate change (Monday), finance and governance (Tuesday), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Nexus and biodiversity (Wednesday), WASH and utilities (Thursday), as well as water and gender (Friday). Each day will be introduced by a key quote of a renowned individual of the water world. In more than 25 virtual meetings, participants will get the chance to experience panel discussions and expert talks, as well as to take part in interactive dialogues themselves. Within the framework of WW4D, the Inter-American Development Bank and the United Nations Environment Programme will co-convene a side event on Thursday 27th August on the recently launched Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Management (GEF CReW+) project. The event is titled Toilets of the Caribbean- Meet the CReW+ and will be hosted by GIZ- Sanitation for Millions. The UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat and GIZ will participate as co-executing agencies of the project.
