PRE-INC 2 ASIA ONLINE FORUM: Benefits of the plastic pollution treaty

Pre-INC 2 Asia online forum on benefits of the plastic pollution treaty - potential provisions on high-risk plastic product categories, circularity, and financing mechanisms

This informal event provides a space for exchange and dialogue on relevant issues for countries and experts, ahead of INC-2.

WWF, together with COBSEA and PEMSEA, is pleased to organize an online forum in preparation for the second Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-2) for the plastic treaty on May 10, 2023 (Wednesday 2pm-4pm GMT+08). 

This forum provides a space for dialogue and to share latest developments on key topics to support member States in Asia in their preparations for constructive and meaningful outcomes at the second Session of the INC.

INC-2 aims to prepare an international instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment and will be held in person at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris from May 29, 2023 to June 02, 2023 towards a potential zero draft before INC-3 in November 2023.

This is an unofficial event that is not associated with INC-2 or doesn't preclude negotiations of options for an international instrument on plastic pollution and marine litter.
