3 December - Second COBSEA webinar on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework

The webinar will discuss the updated zero draft of the framework, preparations for Bern-II and meetings of subsidiary bodies of CBD, conclusions and recommendations from the UNEP/EC Workshop on the Regional Seas Programmes and the Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, as well as the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) Recommendation on the inclusion of coral reefs and related ecosystems within the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

9-13 November - 4th session of ad hoc open-ended expert group on marine litter and microplastics (AHEG) (virtual): The 4th meeting of the ad hoc open-ended expert group on marine litter and microplastics will, inter alia, discuss outcomes of the global stocktaking exercise of marine litter actions and activities. [postponed] - Our Ocean Conference (Palau): The focus of this year’s conference is Local to Global Action for Our Ocean. It will provide opportunities to report on progress made on previous commitments and take stock of actions yet to be completed. More information here.

[postponed] - 2020 UN Ocean Conference (Lisbon, Portugal): The focus of the 2nd UN Ocean Conference is ‘Scaling up Ocean Action Based on Science and Innovation for the Implementation of Goal 14’. More information here.

[postponed to Q2 2021] - The 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) (Kunming, China): COP 15 will review the achievement and delivery of the CBD’s Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020. The COP will consider the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. More information here
