The third session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-3) took place from 4-6 December 2017 in Nairobi Kenya.
UNEA-3 considered the overarching theme of pollution. Outcomes of the session included:
- a political declaration on pollution, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- resolutions and decisions adopted by Member States to address specific dimensions of pollution
- voluntary commitments by governments, private sector entities and civil society organizations to clean up the planet
- the Clean Planet Pledge, a collection of individual commitments to take personal action to end pollution in all its forms.
In addition to the Open Ended Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR) from 29 November to 1 December, UNEA-3 was be preceded by the following meetings:
- 27-28 November, Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum;
- Science Policy Forum
- 4-6 December 2017, Sustainable Innovation Expo.
