CBIT-GSP Inception and Launch of the Climate Transparency Platform
9 June 2023 | 11:00 -13:30 | German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) Tulpenfeld 6, 53113 Bonn
The Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency -Global Support Programme (CBIT-GSP) is a global
climate transparency project supporting developing countries in the transition to the Enhanced
Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement. The project is funded by the Global Environment
Facility (GEF) through CBIT, implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and
executed by the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC).
The CBIT-GSP project includes various support modalities, notably its ten Regional Transparency
Networks, eight of which were launched end 2022 and beginning of 2023, and through which support to
countries is provided at the regional and national level.
A major cornerstone of the CBIT-GSP project is the establishment of a Climate Transparency Platform,
serving the global climate transparency community, including developing countries, UN agencies,
support providers, and practitioners. The Climate Transparency Platform both merges and continues the
CBIT Platform and the previous Global Support Programme, while expanding its scope to the wider
transparency community and practitioners.
This event serves both as inception of the CBIT-GSP project overall and the launch of the Climate
Transparency Platform, introducing the support modalities of CBIT-GSP and the main functionalities of
the platform. The launch event will feature speakers from GEF, UNEP and UNEP-CCC as well as support
providers and countries and will provide ample opportunity for engagement and discussion on the CBITGSP
project and the Climate Transparency Platform.
This launch event welcomes all stakeholders working on and/or interested in climate transparency. Light
refreshments will be provided.
