Asher is Head (a.i.) of UNEP’s GEF Climate Mitigation portfolio.
He oversees the development and implementation of the portfolio, which consists of more than USD 400 million in GEF grant, supporting more than 100 developing countries to accelerate low-emission sustainable development.
Asher has more than 15 years experience in project management in Australia and Latin America, in both the private sector and international public sectors. Before joining UNEP, he worked for 6 years at the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), supporting multilateral consideration of policies for promoting climate technology development and transfer.
Asher is a national of Australia and holds degrees in engineering, applied mathematics and international negotiations.
