Biography

Jane has been with UNEP’s Ecosystems Division since 2014 as the GEF Task Manager in charge of Africa, where she is charged with project development, implementation, supervision and management, plus knowledge management and UNEP/GEF corporate tasks. Since then she has mobilized over $50 million in funding from GEF to UNEP and the participating countries.

Jane holds a Master of Science in Environment and Natural Resource Management and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry, both from Makerere University. She also holds a Masters of Science in Sustainable Energy Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, majoring in renewable energies and climate change. In addition, she has a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Uganda Management Institute (UMI) and a diploma in Transboundary Water Management from the Swedish International Water Institute (SIWI).

Previously, Jane worked with UNDP South Sudan as an Environment and Energy Specialist where she assisted the new country to accede to key Multilateral Environment Agreements (MEAs) like the CBD, UNFCCC, UNCCD and the Ramsar Convention, including the preparation of five MEA project proposals that were approved by GEF.

Jane has commissioned several research topics and published on issues relating to social-environment impact assessments on dams, wildlife, forestry/vegetation, and water resources.
