Sangjin is a Task Manager of the GEF Biodiversity and Land Degradation Unit at UNEP, where he facilitates the development and implementation of UNEP’s overall agenda through coordination of UNEP-GEF Biodiversity and Land Degradation projects in the Pacific region, as well as selected countries in the Asia Region.
Sangjin is an environmental professional with more than 20 years of experience working for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/GEF Yellow Sea Large Marine Ecosystem (YSLME) Phase II, the Northwest Pacific Action Plan (NOWPAP) of the UNEP and also at academic/research institutes including the University of California, University of Wisconsin, Hazardous Substance Research Center of Louisiana State University and Massachusetts Water Resource Authorities in the USA.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from Pukyung National University of the RO Korea, a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Northeastern University and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Louisiana State University of the USA.
