Alexander supports the portfolio on terminal reviews of select Enabling Activities and in the development of emissions projects. Prior to UNEP, he worked for the Scientific Research Insitute for Atmospheric Air Protection in Saint-Petersburg and has over 15 years of experience working on air and chemical pollution assessment and mitigation. Alexander is a Russian national and holds an MSc in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management and an MSc-equivalent degree in Environmental Engineering.
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is a multilateral fund dedicated to confronting biodiversity loss, climate change, pollution, and strains on land and ocean health. Over the past three decades, the GEF has provided more than $22 billion in financing and mobilized another $120 billion for more than 5,000 national and regional projects.
