Asher is responsible for UNEP’s portfolio of GEF mitigation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
He oversees the development and implementation of more than 25 projects in the region, in areas including sustainable cities, electric mobility, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate transparency.
Asher has more than 15 years experience in project management in Australia and Latin America, in both the private sector and international public sectors. Before joining UNEP he worked for 6 years at the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), supporting multilateral consideration of policies for promoting climate technology development and transfer.
Asher is a national of Australia and holds degrees in engineering, applied mathematics and international negotiations.
