Daniel has a blend of experience working in various capacities in the last 27 years with and for governments, academia, bilateral and multilateral biodiversity conservation and management projects, consultancy companies, international NGOs and now with UNEP CCAU after the UNEP UN-REDD Programme.
Prior to joining UNEP in 2014, Daniel worked for nearly 11 years running the Central and West Africa Programme at Fauna & Flora International (FFI) in Cambridge (UK). During this period, he established and managed a string of projects and programmes throughout the region. Prior to FFI, he undertook consultancy assignments for FAO in various countries in sub-Saharan Africa and for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded Natural Resources Systems Programme in Brazil and Cameroon.
He spent his early career working for the Forestry Department of Cameroon and moved on to establish himself as a natural resource management specialist for the Mount Cameroon Project, a biodiversity conservation and management project jointly funded by the Government of Cameroon, DFID, GIZ and GEF.
Daniel holds a PhD in Tropical Ecology from the University of Wales (UK, 2002) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry, Wildlife and Fishery Management from the University of Dschang (Cameroon, 1993).
