Ersin Esen brings 26 years of expertise in sustainable development planning, strategic management, and project cycle management. He has been with UNEP since 2011, serving as Task Manager for the Europe and West Asia regions in the GEF Biodiversity and Land Degradation Unit. In this role, he developed and implemented GEF-funded projects across multiple countries. Before joining UNEP, Ersin worked as a development planning expert at the State Planning Organization of Türkiye, focusing on policy analysis, investment budgeting, and programming. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, an MBA from Middle East Technical University in Türkiye, and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University.
