Essa works under the GEF Executive Coordinator as Coordination Officer supporting the overall management of GEF Portfolio in UNEP. His role is focused on corporate compliance, reporting, and programme management.
Essa has 5 years of professional experience, working extensively on trust fund management, portfolio reporting, and project implementation. Prior to UNEP, Essa worked in private consulting undertaking impact assessments and feasibility studies for capital development projects.
Essa holds two masters degrees, one from the School of Geography and Planning at Cardiff University, UK, and another from Nijmegen School of Management at Radboud University, the Netherlands.
He is a national of Jordan and speaks Arabic and English.
