Essa is the Programme Management Officer supporting the overall management of UNEP’s GEF Portfolio, with a focus on corporate compliance, reporting, and programme management.
He has eight years of professional experience, working extensively on trust fund management, portfolio reporting, and project implementation. Before joining UNEP, he worked in private consulting, conducting impact assessments and feasibility studies for capital development projects.
Essa holds two master’s degrees—one from the School of Geography and Planning at Cardiff University, UK, and another from the Nijmegen School of Management at Radboud University, the Netherlands.
He speaks English and Arabic and is developing his French skills.
