Jone Orbea Otazua

Biography

Jone supports the Global Environment Facility (GEF) portfolio of Climate Change Mitigation projects, specifically e-mobility projects and programs in Latin America and the Caribbean.  

Jone has ten years of experience in management, planning and project execution. Prior to joining the GEF mitigation team at UNEP in 2024, in her current position, Jone worked for the UNEP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, leading the electric mobility programme that directly impacted more than 15 countries. Overall, she has more than 10 years of experience in transportation projects, from financial and environmental sustainability to road safety or electrification.

Jone is from Spain and has lived in Mexico for 11 years. She holds a Master's (M.Sc.) degree in International Economics and Development from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and is currently studying for a Master's (M.Sc.) in Humanities from the University of Monterrey (Mexico). She also holds graduate degrees in Business Administration and International Trade, both from the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
