Loana is responsible for UNEP’s portfolio of GEF-funded climate change mitigation projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), valued at over US$ 50 million.
She currently oversees project development and implementation across 12+ countries, focusing on sustainable urban development, energy efficiency, circular economy, electric mobility, and climate transparency.
With over 10 years of experience in the energy and environment sector, Loana previously worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), developing and executing energy operations across the LAC region. She also brings experience in the private renewable energy sector.
A Nicaraguan national, Loana holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy and a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
