The eighth GEF Replenishment Cycle (GEF-8) employs an integrated programming approach that aligns with national, regional and global commitments to address major drivers of environmental degradation and deliver a healthy, productive and resilient environment that supports wellbeing of human societies.
In the GEF-8 Cycle, UNEP is at the forefront, leading four of 11 Integrated Programs, which build on experiences from the sixth and seventh GEF Replenishment Cycles. UNEP’s recognized global and regional leadership on the environmental agenda, strong partnership attributes and demonstrated experience in developing and successfully implementing programmatic approaches are pivotal in supporting countries to pursue transformational environmental change for the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.
