Online Course: Phasing Down Dental Amalgam and Implementing Environmentally Sound Practices to Manage Amalgam Waste

Dental amalgam has been used as a restorative material to address dental caries and is one of the  contributors to mercury consumption across the globe. The Minamata Convention on Mercury is a global treaty that aims to protect human health and the environment from anthropogenic emissions and releases of mercury and mercury compounds. The treaty outlines the provisions to phase-down the use of dental amalgam.

This online course is intended to enhance the knowledge and skills of oral health personnel in phasing down the use of dental amalgam and implementing environmentally sound practices to manage its associated wastes.

Course duration: Approximately two hours

The course is a freely accessible and is ‘self-paced’ allowing the registrants to learn in their free time to earn a certification.
