The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a report on January 1, 2003 that includes a comprehensive strategy to reduce the mercury content of products. To assist in gathering information for this report, the Maine DEP commissioned the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production of the University of Massachusetts Lowell to conduct the following study of alternatives to mercury containing products.
The overall goal of the UNEP Global Mercury Partnership is to protect human health and the environment from the releases of mercury.
