Brochure: A guide for managing mercury waste at household and community level: This public information material was produced through the toolkit development project aimed at raising the awareness of mercury wastes management at household and community level funded by Norway and UNEP. The information does not represent the views of UNEP nor the Chinese government.
The reduction of supply is regarded as a priority in the overall goal of reducing the mercury related risk to human health and the environment. Elemental mercury as well as mercury compounds that are produced by recycling, as a by-product of metal production or by other sources may enter the market as commodities.
According to the scenarios assessed in the report, mercury supply and demand in Asia are projected to reach a rough equilibrium beginning about 2014-2015. After 2017 the urgency of an Asian mercury storage capability is likely to depend on the rate of demand reduction. Substantial excess mercury can be expected in Asia after 2030.

The POG is a tool to help determine the approaches to control mercury emissions in coal-fired power plants, in many cases a co-benefit of reducing emissions of other pollutants. The POG allows for a preliminary selection of a mercury control strategy for a given power plant. In general, the POG is also applicable to coal-fired large industrial boilers.
