This workshop comes within the framework of Ex-Com approved project “Twinning of Ozone Officers and National Energy-Efficiency Policymakers to Support Kigali Amendment Objectives” which, based on the needs of Article 5 countries, aims to increase the climate benefits of the Montreal Protocol refrigerant transition by maximizing a simultaneous improvement in the energy efficiency of the cooling sector through enhanced policy and programmatic coordination at the national and regional levels.
As a result of this workshop which brings together National Ozone Officers (NOOs)/Montreal Protocol Officers (MPOs), Energy-Efficiency Policymakers, and Financial Mechanisms Focal Points from the Article 5 countries in the ECA and WA regions, the capacity of NOOs/MPOs will be strengthened so that they can effectively adjust their national Montreal Protocol compliance programmes to respond to the Kigali Amendment and incorporate energy efficiency considerations into the refrigeration and air-conditioning sector.
