iPIC is a voluntary and informal mechanism of information exchange on intended trade between countries in ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), mixtures containing these as well as products and equipment. It enables countries to share details of eligible importers and exporters with other member countries through a secure online platform. iPIC has become a global voluntary initiative used by more than 100 like-minded states who wish to strengthen the implementation of their national licensing system for ODS and HFCs.

UN Environment Programme OzonAction, in cooperation with the World Customs Organization and the Ozone Secretariat, is launching the fifth edition of the ECA Montreal Protocol Award for Customs and Enforcement Officers for the period 2019-2020. The award recognizes the crucial role of customs & enforcement officers in implementing trade restrictions and bans for hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Both groups of chemicals, which are controlled under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, are widely used as refrigerants and foam blowing agents in the refrigeration, air conditioning and foam blowing sectors.

Global Award for Customs and Enforcement Officers: Compilation of iPIC Consultations & Seizures
This booklet is intended to be an easy-to-use resource for ozone officers and others who will be involved in the detection, prevention, and prosecution of smuggling in HCFCs and methyl bromide. Ozone officers and enforcement professionals from both developed and developing countries were interviewed during the preparation of the booklet in order to gain their real-world advice. Through dozens of case studies and examples, the booklet provides enforcement strategies that can be implemented with flexible approaches that maximize the efficient use of scarce human and financial resources.
UNEP, in collaboration with the contributors from defence forces, has developed this tool-kit for national security and the environment, focusing on ozone and climate issues. It has drawn inputs from workshops and international conferences held on military and environment protection, as well as real-life experiences and good practices from different parts of the world. The main purpose of this document is to provide information to defence establishments across the globe so that they can design and implement ozone-friendly approaches in their regular equipment operation and maintenance activities.
The OzonAction Special Issue is an annual newsletter that covers environmental topics related to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the ozone layer, and other related environmental topics.
