Economic and Trade Policy

In Green economy

The Economic and Trade Policy Unit conducts research and provides capacity building support and advisory services to enable the transition to inclusive and green economies.

From an economic perspective, the prevailing crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution largely stem from unsustainable consumption, production and investment patterns. The Unit addresses these root causes by analyzing the roles of fiscal, trade, and industrial policies in enabling an economic transformation. Partner countries are supported in identifying their unique transformational pathway using analytical tools that compare alternative economic scenarios, evaluate different policy options, and measure and assess their progress towards an inclusive green economy.

The Unit has the following major work streams.

  1. Environment and Trade Hub
  2. Green Economy Measurement (GEM)
  3. Green Economy Modelling
  4. Green Economy Policy Review
  5. Green Fiscal Policy
  6. Green Industrial Policy
  7. Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE)
  8. Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership
  9. Sustainable Public Procurement
