Barcelona Convention COP22 Media accreditation procedure

Media registration in COP 22 is subject to accreditation by the UNEP/MAP—Barcelona Convention Secretariat.

Media accreditation is strictly reserved for media professionals (print, photo, radio, TV, film and news agencies and online media) who represent a bona fide media organization [formally registered as a media organization in a country recognized by the United Nations General Assembly. How to apply for Media Accreditation

Accreditation requests will be considered upon presentation of the following documentation in working languages of the United Nations (English or French) :

  1. completed accreditation application form;
  2. letter of assignment on official letterhead of a media organization signed by the Publisher or, Editor-in-chief, indicating the name and functional title of the media representative. Unsigned letters or e-mails will not be accepted;
  3. scanned copy of a valid press card;
  4. scanned copy of a valid passport or other photo identification.

Freelance journalists wishing to apply for accreditation may provide the following documentation:

  1. completed accreditation application form;
  2. a recent letter from an editor or media organization they have worked with;
  3. scanned copy of a valid passport or other photo identification.

Accreditation requests should be sent by e-mail to anastasia.vergiris(at)un.org, copying ghannem(at)un.org, no later than 30 November 2021.

Once a request is approved, a confirmation message will be sent to the applicant via e-mail and registered media professionals will receive information on collecting their media pass.

  • UNEP/MAP is not in a position to accept accreditation requests via any other channel. Only completed applications will be considered.
  • Applying for accreditation does not guarantee registration. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. Accreditation will only be given on proof of a track record of reporting for media organizations.
  • UNEP/MAP may, at any time and for safety and security reasons, put measures in place to manage the number of accredited media who are able to attend the conference.
  • Media representatives registered to cover the meeting should make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.


Privacy

The names and information entered are for purposes of identification and verification only. Required information is used for accreditation and statistical purposes and will not be published for general access. This information will be retained in the system for use at future sessions, unless a written request to remove it is received from the media concerned. ;

Letters of assignment and copies of press cards and ID documents are not retained.  For each meeting a new letter of assignment must be submitted and copy of a valid press card, if it has expired since the last meeting.
