HE Ms. Amy Adams,
Minister – New Zealand
Hon. Amy Adams is New Zealand’s Minister for the Environment, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, and Associate Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery.
She became a Member of Parliament at the 2008 General Election, representing the large rural electorate of Selwyn in the Canterbury province. She was re-elected to Parliament in 2011 with a majority of votes and was promoted to Cabinet.
During Minister Adams’ first term in Parliament, she was given the roles of Chairperson of both the Finance and Expenditure and Electoral Legislation select committees, and also served as a member of the Justice and Electoral and Regulations Review Committees.
Minister Adams founded the New Zealand Parliamentary Defense Force Scheme and undertook placements with the Royal New Zealand Navy and Royal New Zealand Air Force.
Before being elected to Parliament, Minister Adams was a partner with the law firm of Mortlock McCormack Law in Christchurch, specializing in commercial and property law.
Adams attended Rangitoto College, and then graduated from the University of Canterbury with an LLB with First-Class Honors.
