Every year, about 8 million tonnes of plastic waste streams its way into the oceans. The high and rapidly growing quantities of marine plastic litter and microplastics represent a serious environmental and socio-economic issue affecting marine life, ecosystems, health, food security, the tourism sector and livelihoods. The impacts know no boundaries, spanning the national, regional and even international scale.

The Environmental Policy and Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning and Development of Trinidad and Tobago invites you to join the webinar as they dive into the issue of marine plastic litter and microplastics with Mr. Christopher Corbin, Programme Officer for Marine Pollution, Cartagena Convention Secretariat, UNEP and Ms. Marissa Mohamed, International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Country Coordinator and Executive Director of CNIRD.
