The 14th edition of the CaMPAM Training of Trainers Course on MPA Management will take place in Barbados on November 11-21.
Twenty-one (21) marine protected area practitioners from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, The Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago will participate in a 10-day course that will combine lectures, interactive exercises, discussion of important topics, presentations by the trainees on their work, a drone launching practical demonstration, a visit to the Folkstone Marine Reserve, etc.
The participants work in a wide array of marine resources and area management entities, from government agencies, NGOs, trust funds, and academia.
The course was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Cartagena Convention Secretariat of the UN Caribbean Environment Programme (UNEP-CEP), the IUCN Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean (IUCN-ORMACC) through the BIOPAMA Programme, the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) through the BE-CLME+ and the Centre for Resource Management & Environmental Studies (CERMES) of The University of West Indies. They all contributed resources to make this an important learning experience for both, trainees and facilitators.
Please stay tuned for information on the course activities as it progresses.
