We are pleased to announce the PROMAR Summit 2024, an event marking the conclusion of Phase 1 of the PROMAR project. Over the past three years, we have worked alongside Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica in implementing innovative strategies for environmental protection and circular economy. This event will serve as a platform to present the results and conclusions obtained, as well as the lessons learned throughout the project.
A Ministerial Forum was held with a focus on waste management, outlining the region’s shared commitment to adopting circular economy principles, improving waste management policies, and mobilizing financial resources to support both national and regional goals. • During the Forum, officials signed the “Trinidad Declaration on a Zero Waste Caribbean”, formalizing their commitment to waste management across the region.

The 14th edition of the Caribbean Marine Protected Area Management Network (CaMPAM) Training of Trainers on Marine Protected Area Management regional course will be held from November 11 to 21, 2024 (venue to be confirmed), primarily for the English-speaking Caribbean.
The fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) will be held from 27 to 30 May 2024 in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. The Conference will be held at the American University of Antigua, (American University of Antigua, Jabberwock Rd, Osbourn, Antigua & Barbuda).

The United Nations (UN) has declared 2021-2030 as the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, in a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems around the world. Led by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the UN Decade is building a strong, broad-based global movement to ramp up restoration and put the world on track for a sustainable future.
Six months ago, life was what we would have called “normal”; fast-forward to June 2020, in the throes of a global pandemic and recovery efforts- the catchphrases- quarantine, social distancing, masks and stay at home have become the new norm.
