The fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) will be held from 27 to 30 May 2024 in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. The Conference will be held at the American University of Antigua, (American University of Antigua, Jabberwock Rd, Osbourn, Antigua & Barbuda).
Under the overarching theme of “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity", the Conference will aim at assessing the ability of SIDS to achieve sustainable development, including the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. It will result in an intergovernmentally agreed, focused, forward-looking and action-oriented political outcome document.
The UNEP Cartagena Convention Secretariat in collaboration with the Government of France, Government of the Dominican Republic and the Regional Activity Centre of the Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife Protocol (SPAW RAC) will be organizing a side event entitled Sargassum: Turning the Golden Tide! Crisis or Opportunity for Caribbean SIDS on Wednesday 29 May 2024 at 10 – 11:30 AM in Room 10 inside the conference venue (see flier below for more details).
Side events will be organized in the margins of the official meetings of the SIDS4 Conference. Side events are organized by Member States, Intergovernmental Organizations (IGOs), UN entities and all other duly accredited and registered entities. Please note that there is no separate registration for side events inside the Conference Venue. The side events are open on a first come, first serve basis to all duly registered participants of the Conference.
