Extrabudgetary financial support to the organization of UNEA-6
In addition to available resources from UN Regular Budget and UNEP Environment Fund, the successful organization of UNEA sessions is always contingent on generous extrabudgetary financial support from Member States.
In particular, additional financial support is necessary to ensure an inclusive and participatory UNEA through travel support to delegates from developing countries and to a limited number of participants from major groups and stakeholders.
Thanks to the generous financial contributions of several Member States, the Secretariat offered travel support for up to two representatives from developing countries to attend UNEA-6 and its preparatory meetings. In total, travel support was provided to 173 representatives from 100 Member States, 29 individuals from the Major Groups and Stakeholders, and 28 youth participants for the Youth Environment Assembly.
