Founded by the UN Environment Programme in 2010, the Global Adaptation Network (GAN) provides a worldwide platform to distribute and exchange climate change adaptation knowledge in a variety of ways. As an umbrella organization spanning most continents, GAN is composed of many regional networks and partners, each of which provide knowledge services in their respective regions. This GAN ‘family’ is a thriving community that provides considerable benefits to its members. Through these partners, GAN connects the local to the global.

Global Coordinator for Adaptation Policy and Partnerships and oversees the Global Adaptation Network. Alvin previously coordinated UNEP’s partnership and programmes with the Green Climate Fund. Much of Alvin’s work has focused on loss and damage, innovative finance, technology, and digital solutions in favour of joint adaptation and mitigation actions.
Regional Liaison for Latin America and the Caribbean, Global Adaptation Network. Angela joined the GAN team in 2022 as the Regional Liaison for Latin America and the Caribbean region.
Regional Liaison for Asia Pacific, Global Adaptation Network. Anna Kilponen is the GAN Regional Liaison for Asia-Pacific based in Bangkok where she supports GAN and the regional node, Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN), with regional initiatives such as the LAKI in the Pacific, EPIC Network launch in Asia and the APAN Forum.
Climate Change Adaptation Specialist, Global Adaptation Network. Dani is a Climate Change Adaptation Specialist at UNEP. In this capacity, he supports the coordination of the Global Adaptation Network and regional networks, adaptation policy, and knowledge outreach events. Dani previously served as a Climate Change Consultant at the World Bank, supporting project task teams in maximizing climate co-benefits, and achieving alignment with the Paris Agreement.
Communication Specialist, Global Adaptation Network. Marcus Nield is an endlessly enthusiastic communication specialist for the Global Adaptation Network. Marcus is the longest-standing member of the GAN team. Despite a background in journalism and documentary filmmaking, he is a science nerd deep down.
Regional Liaison for Africa, Global Adaptation Network. Oscar Ivanova is the GAN Liaison for the African Region. Oscar's main task is to strengthen regional partnerships and support EBAFOSA, our regional node for Africa, to expand its network. He also helps gathering evidence with a focus on EbA, organizes regional stakeholder dialogues, assists the launch of the Global EbA Fund, and supports the GAN Secretariat in its activities.
