Since the introduction of the term Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) more than 10 years ago, many organizations have been working intensively to harness their countries' natural resources to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change. Since then, EbA has already been successfully anchored in various policies and international processes, which provide a strong foundation for implementation and upscaling. With the rise of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) as an umbrella term under which EbA falls, international attention and interest in the topic increased further. At the same time, particularly because of COVID-19, there are new challenges for implementing EbA in policy and practice. The high degree of uncertainty and limited opportunities to connect with each other in person made mutual learning and exchange particularly difficult.

With our 6thInternational EbA Community of Practice Workshop, the International Climate Initiative(IKI)-funded and GIZ-implemented Global Project Mainstreaming EbA therefore wants to offer a space for exchange and mutual learning that will help foster and improve the implementation of your EbA work during and beyond the ongoing pandemic. The workshop will take place in an entirely virtual format.
