The Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN ) is inviting you to the webinar: “Understanding loss and damage in Asia and the Pacific: policy dimensions and mechanisms to avert, minimize and address impacts,” on 21 July 2022, 2:00-3: 30 PM (ICT).
Why register?
This webinar aims to enhance the adaptation practitioners' knowledge and understanding of loss & damage science and policy aspects, particularly in Asia and the Pacific region. It will also serve as an avenue to discuss regional priorities for averting, minimizing, and addressing loss & damage. In addition, it will explore national and NGO-led mechanisms established to minimize and address loss & damage in Asia and the Pacific. Lastly, it will present CSO perspectives on loss & damage, identified gaps, and COP 27 expectations.
This webinar will showcase insights from speakers from the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), Executive Committee (ExCom) of the Warsaw International Mechanism (WIM), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Griffith University, Philippine Climate Change Commission (PCCC), Practical Action, UN Environment Program (UNEP), and UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) serves as a knowledge platform to equip adaptation practitioners in the region with the information, knowledge, and tools to design, implement and monitor climate change adaptation measures, foster access to technologies and finance, and capacity-building for integrating climate change adaptation into national development policies, strategies, and plans.
With support from the Ministry of Environment of the Government of Japan, APAN was developed and launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in 2009 under the Global Adaptation Network (GAN) . APAN has established close partnerships with key organizations and has become an important adaptation knowledge mobilizer in Asia and the Pacific Region.
