Addressing the climate emergency requires effective mitigation, adaptation and disaster risk-reducing actions. It is critical to guard against risk-blind planning, particularly to avoid maladaptation and creating new risks. A comprehensive approach to risk management is therefore needed. Such as approach considers a number of factors to purposively strengthen synergies between disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, identifying mutually beneficial opportunities across policies and programmes.
This session at the NAP Expo 2023 will provide key recommendations on the benefits, needs, challenges and opportunities for expanding integrated planning and implementation. The session will address the following questions:
