Local communities are in the forefront of climate impacts and are being affected by a range of context-specific climate risks. However, despite local communities being best placed to understand the local needs and priorities, they often receive varying or inadequate support to adapt.
Hosted by UNEP’s Global Adaptation Network (GAN) in collaboration with the EPIC-Network as part of the Gobeshona Global Conference 3, this session highlights different local climate solutions drawing from the work and experiences of UNEP and partners across multiple regions. This session aims to build on the learning and share lessons from these initiatives and highlight the role of climate technologies, ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) approaches, city-university partnerships and adaptation financing in building local climate resilience.
