UNEP Faith for Earth Initiative is co-leading a global Interfaith Coordination Group on Climate Change (ICGCC, launched in January 2023) consisting of 58 actors from 35 different faith-based organizations (FBOs) and civil society NGOs. The ICGCC serves as a coordination hub for collaborative Interfaith engagement towards COP 28 and the group will host a first-of-its-kind pavilion with around 60 sessions. This visible presence at COP will provide a unique opportunity to engage with key stakeholders like negotiators and political leaders, demonstrate the environmental efforts of faith-based organizations, and foster interfaith dialogue, information sharing, and partnerships between various faith and non-faith groups. In anticipation of COP28, a pre-COP thematic discussion series is being conducted.
The ICGCC is delighted to invite you to the tenth session of the thematic consultation series on Understanding Adaptation and Mitigation as part of the interfaith coordination process for COP 28. This session will highlight the importance of context-specific adaptation and mitigation knowledge sharing, including non-traditional stakeholders such as FBOs.
This session will be moderated by The Global Adaptation Network. Founded in 2010, GAN provides a worldwide platform to distribute and exchange climate change adaptation knowledge in a variety of ways. The GAN works with and through regional adaptation networks to share adaptation knowledge and expertise to accelerate action on climate adaptation. Participants will have the opportunity to ask Jessica Troni, Alvin Chandra, and Oscar Ivanova questions at the end of the session. It is open to all interested actors and stakeholders. We warmly welcome you and encourage you to invite others to join us.
