Join us for this session at the Africa Climate Week! This side event aims to spotlight the demands, and entrepreneurship of youth leaders, as well as real examples of how climate finance must be used to increase climate adaptation resources for youth in the Global South. This event will delve into the significance of amplifying children’s and youth perspectives in climate-related initiatives and discuss effective strategies for fostering their active participation.

The event will bring together diverse stakeholders to exchange knowledge, collaborate, and provide actionable recommendations, aligning with climate objectives and sustainable development goals. Some of the session objectives include:

• Sharing experiences, approaches, good practices, and solutions in action that enable effective and meaningful participation and engagement of civil society, including children and youth in climate decision-making and action and facilitate networking and collaboration among key stakeholders.
• Explore de-risking strategies that facilitate the engagement of youth in sustainable enterprise actions for climate adaptation and low-carbon development investments and raise awareness about the importance of IPLCs-led initiatives developing best practices to improve climate market quality and including benefit sharing.
• Explore how working with local communities can reduce the vulnerability of groups or individuals within the community who are at greater risk of climate impacts because of comparatively less adaptive capacity due to social and structural inequalities.
• Highlight the role of policy advocacy at the local, regional, and global levels.
