The Asia-Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change–Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia and the Pacific (UNFCCC–RCC), the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and UNEP are co-organizing a webinar titled, “Navigating the path towards global resilience: Shaping a comprehensive framework for the Global Goal on Adaptation” on 25 June 2024 at 10:00-12:00 (Indochina Time)/15:00-17:00 (West Samoa Time).
Emanating from the COP28 discussions on the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA), this knowledge session aims to enhance the understanding of adaptation practitioners on the GGA and the UAE Global Resilience Framework. It also aims to gather insights on the priority areas, cross-cutting considerations, and strategies in developing the GGA framework indicators and explore strategies on how the framework could be integrated into the policy cycle across risk assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Furthermore, it aims to discuss the potential of a regional high-level headline goal to mobilize action and funding.
In the run-up to COP29, APAN is organizing a series of regional webinars and associated information briefs that provide focused analyses and offer insights to increase understanding of emerging adaptation issues, key policy discussions and emerging capacity development needs. The first webinar of 2024, hosted on 19 March 2024, focused on the Loss and Damage Fund. The recording of the webinar is available here and the information brief issue 1 can be downloaded here.
