We are pleased to invite you to join the Forum of the UN Ecosystem-based Adaptation for Food Security Assembly (EBAFOSA).

Science-based, data-fuelled collaborations are critical to restoring ocean health and ensuring a safe, just blue economy. Barriers, opportunities and innovative approaches will be shared and discussed.

The goal will be to highlight the S2S land-ocean connection and the link with nature-based solution as a way to address pollution, and/ or the blue economy.

This is one of the official side events of the UN Ocean Conference to be held from 27 June to 1 July 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Under the auspices of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility (GEF), are pleased to bring you an exciting side event taking place at the upcoming 15th Conference of the Parties (COP-15) of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, in Abidjan, on 12th May, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm GMT.

BACKGROUND

The Pre-Summit of the UN Food Systems Summit will set the stage for the culminating global event in September by bringing together diverse actors from around the world to leverage the power of food systems to deliver progress on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

 The current COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly spreading, thus intensifying its impact upon the world’s healthcare systems and economy. During this time, ensuring reliable and safe municipal solid waste management services provision is a must for all local governments to protect public health and contain the spread of the virus.

UN-Habitat (Waste Wise Cities Campaign) and the Wuppertal Institute are organizing this series of webinars, under the Urban Pathways Project, to support local governments and work together in combatting COVID-19.
